Criminal Research Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +21 more states.

📋 Description

• Assess database search outcomes (SSN Trace, Nationwide Criminal Database) to identify any additional names or searches needed.

• Conduct criminal record investigations through various court access systems and public records. Reach out to courts and verified sources via phone, email, fax, and mail when further research is necessary.

• Follow company protocols, federal and jurisdiction-level regulations, and client-specific guidelines when processing requests. Record all actions taken in both internal and client-facing notes.

• Generate accurate and compliant consumer reports for Foley clients.

• Collaborate internally with quality control and fellow team members to guarantee timely and high-quality outcomes.

• Liaise externally with customers and vendors as support requirements arise.

• Offer suggestions to enhance processes and work collaboratively across departments.

• Operate across multiple platforms while integrating new tools and strategies to advance the business for our customers.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field, or equivalent experience in criminal records research, legal, or court systems.

• Prior experience in background screening or a related field (criminal research, investigations, law enforcement).

• Comprehensive knowledge of the U.S. criminal justice system and the ability to interpret court cases and terminology.

• Familiarity with FCRA and state regulations; capability to apply compliance standards effectively.

• Outstanding attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based research tools.

• Ability to work independently and adhere to tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
