Credit Risk Manager – SME Credit Cards

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• Lead the development, enhancement, and management of Finom’s Credit Risk engine to achieve recognition as best in class (including framework, guidance, analytics, and technical setup).

• Take ownership of the comprehensive credit risk framework for credit cards, covering eligibility, underwriting, scoring models, limit setting, risk appetite, monitoring, and reporting.

• Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to integrate risk considerations into product design and strategy from the outset.

• Design the data strategy encompassing transactional data, multi-country bureau landscape, behavioral data, accounting software, government registry data, and first-party transactional signals on Finom’s accounts. Guide the ML & DS team in the development, validation, and iteration of credit scoring and related risk models.

• Create and manage the portfolio monitoring system.

• Develop, establish, and fine-tune the early warning indicator/credit monitoring system, focusing on transaction velocity, balance deterioration, changes in payment patterns, supplier/customer/revenue concentration shifts, and signals from external data sources.

• Serve as a robust Second Line of Defense (2LoD), ensuring effective origination, monitoring, and collections processes.

• Continuously enhance credit risk policies, risk appetite frameworks, and reporting practices.

• Ensure compliance with EMI / PS4 regulatory requirements and the evolving standards in Europe.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–7+ years of experience in credit risk, with practical expertise in SME lending and credit cards.

• Extensive experience with automated underwriting and risk models within fintech or digital banking settings.

• A STEM/quantitative degree in fields such as physics, data science, applied mathematics, statistics, econometrics, or quantitative finance is highly advantageous.

• Strong grasp of risk governance, policies, and processes.

• An AI-native mindset — adept at utilizing AI tools and agents to boost productivity and enhance decision-making.

• A unit-economics/product-led growth perspective (including eligibility, conversion, expected loss, cost of risk, false positives as missed revenues, and risk-adjusted margin), extending beyond mere control.

• Excellent collaborative skills, capable of aligning diverse stakeholders (including Product, Legal, Finance, Engineering, ML/DS).

• Analytical, structured, and pragmatic approach — able to merge intricate details with overarching concepts.
