Credit Risk Analyst, Commercial Underwriter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with our leading merchants, ranging from thriving venture-backed startups to established institutions, to assess their business models and financial statements.

• Offer customized credit risk recommendations that reduce Stripe’s exposure while promoting the growth of partner companies.

• Assist in managing the portfolio by cultivating a comprehensive understanding of risk across various industries, regions, and operational frameworks.

• Provide insights to aid senior management in decision-making, covering areas from onboarding strategies to merchant pricing evaluations.

• Contribute to the enhancement of tools and processes to help the team achieve key performance indicators, such as credit loss objectives or portfolio coverage metrics.

• Collaborate with internal and external partners to assist merchants globally.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of relevant experience with expertise in commercial credit underwriting, financial risk modeling, and cash flow forecasting.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or other related disciplines.

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and confidence in evaluating financial statements and business models across diverse industries.

• Ability to convert business and financial data into coherent narratives that highlight potential credit risks and propose effective mitigation strategies.

• Excellent written, verbal, and problem-solving abilities.

• Attention to detail while prioritizing tasks in a dynamic environment.

• Capability to engage comfortably with CFOs and CEOs of our leading merchants.
