Court Interpreter, New Hampshire

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Hampshire.

📋 Description

• Deliver onsite interpreting (OSI) services for the New Hampshire Judicial Branch (NHJB).

• Proficient in consecutive or simultaneous onsite (in-person) interpretation between court representatives and individuals who speak limited English.

• Accurately convey concepts and meanings between the speaker and Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals.

• Maintain correct grammar, clarity, and tone while interpreting between English and your native language.

• Experience in adhering to the speakers' directives, professionally intervening for clarification when necessary, and managing the conversational flow.

• Avoid side conversations with the LEP and refrain from engaging in disagreements with the customer or LEP.

• Adhere to all relevant ethics and standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be Court-Certified or Court-Registered in New Hampshire; credentials will be required.

• Willingness to undergo annual criminal history and/or state registry background checks.

• Strong familiarity with NHJB procedures, including meticulous documentation of services rendered for each session.

• A minimum of one (1) year of onsite consecutive or simultaneous interpreting experience in a legal or court environment.

• Two (2) professional references who can attest to your qualifications as an onsite consecutive or simultaneous interpreter.

• Age requirement: Must be 18 years or older.

• Education requirement: Must possess a High School Diploma.

• Full proficiency in both English and your native language.

• Capability to provide at least one of the following accreditations:

• American Translation Association (ATA)

• Training or accreditation from a higher education institution.
