Court-Certified Interpreter – Simultaneous

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Deliver simultaneous and/or consecutive onsite or video remote interpretation services to Prisma clients within California.

• Interpret complex subjects including legal issues, water board hearings, science, engineering, and health-related topics.

⛳️ Requirements

• Provide simultaneous and consecutive onsite & video remote interpretation for non-English speakers when interacting with state government representatives.

• Thoroughly review and comprehend all relevant background documents before assignments.

• Strong proficiency in utilizing virtual interpretation platforms (e.g., Zoom).

• Capability to operate tabletop sound booths, interpreter control units, FM transmitters, and headset/receivers.

• Exhibits courteous communication, clear enunciation, and a high level of customer service.

• Accurately convey concepts and meanings between the speaker and the Limited English Proficient (LEP) individual.

• Maintain correct grammar, clarity, and tone in both English and the target language.

• Experience in adhering to the speaker's guidance, professionally interjecting for clarification, and managing conversational flow.

• Avoid side discussions with the LEP and refrain from engaging in disagreements with the customer or LEP.

• Present a professional appearance, demonstrate a polite demeanor, and arrive punctually.

• Adhere to relevant ethics and standards.

• Court-certified in California or U.S. Federal Courts. ***You will be required to submit a copy of your certification. Applicants who do not provide a current court-certified Interpreter certificate will be disqualified (ineligible).

• Full proficiency in both English and the other language.

• A minimum of two years of onsite/video remote simultaneous interpreting experience.

• Three professional references who can verify your status as a court-certified interpreter.

• Must be trained or accredited through a recognized higher education institution.

• Minimum age requirement: 18 years or older.

• Minimum educational qualification: High School Diploma.
