This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.
• Deliver direct consulting services, including information and referral assistance to JAN clients, which encompass individuals with disabilities, rehabilitation experts, and others.
• Address telephone and email inquiries from rehabilitation professionals, individuals facing disabilities or functional limitations, and their family members.
• Handle incoming accommodation requests from rehabilitation specialists, individuals with disabilities or functional limitations, and their relatives, particularly those related to the designated specialty area.
• Gather information from callers to evaluate the functional limitations of potential workers or students with disabilities, along with the work site, work environment, and job task specifications.
• Identify areas of concern for callers regarding the implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or other pertinent legislation and provide the necessary information.
• Innovatively devise strategies to address customers' challenges.
• Offer guidance on job accommodations and provide technical assistance for accommodation requests.
• Conduct research to meet the needs of JAN customers.
• Keep technical expertise up-to-date through personal research.
• Support the development and maintenance of the resource and referral databases.
• A Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Industrial and Labor Relations, Human Resources, Special Education, Business Administration, or a related discipline is mandatory.
• At least one (1) year of experience in each of the following areas: working with individuals with disabilities in a designated specialty area (motor, sensory, or cognitive disabilities and limitations).
• Proficiency in providing information regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act and related legislation in relation to employment.
• Experience in communicating effectively with individuals from all educational backgrounds, both over the phone and in writing.
• Familiarity with various assistive technologies for individuals with disabilities in the specified specialty area.
• Competence in using various database systems, email, and internet search capabilities.
• 37.5-hour work week
