
Commercial Facilities Maintenance Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.
• Provide effective, efficient, and prompt facilities maintenance services to various clients within a designated geographic area.
• Travel to client locations using a company vehicle to oversee the maintenance of commercial properties.
• Execute preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on buildings, equipment, and surrounding grounds.
• Conduct minor plumbing maintenance tasks, such as unclogging toilets and drains, fixing leaks, and replacing fixtures.
• Carry out routine painting and carpentry work to ensure facilities are well-maintained.
• Perform minor electrical maintenance that is permissible without a license under state regulations.
• Complete service and asset inspections as required.
• Access and finalize work orders using a tablet or smartphone.
• Generate and submit service reports along with quality inspection images and documentation.
• Submit timesheets, expense reports, and purchase card logs as necessary.
• Acquire materials and supplies essential for completing tasks.
• Foster customer relationships and enhance customer satisfaction.
• Communicate effectively with customers and internal support teams.
• Attend safety and compliance training sessions and participate in weekly safety meetings.
• Provide estimates for larger projects and services as needed.
• Perform assigned daily, emergency, and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Travel locally between properties on a daily basis.
• High school diploma or degree/certification, or equivalent professional experience in landscaping, trades, or specialized floor care preferred.
• A minimum of two to five years of mechanical experience, including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry, is required; or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
• Relevant work experience in one or more building trades demonstrating the ability to perform assigned duties.
• Background in landscaping, janitorial, or construction-related services is highly preferred.
• Must hold applicable certifications and licenses.
• Valid driver's license in good standing is required.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, including safety policies and procedure manuals.
• Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.
• Able to present information effectively in both individual and small-group settings.
• Proficient in completing work orders promptly and communicating status through established business processes.
• Ability to operate handheld devices and business systems or document-management database software.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, as well as Lotus Notes.
• Capacity to adhere to applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency requirements, and company directives.
• Knowledge of and compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies.
• Experience in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC, plumbing, and electrical building mechanical systems.
• Ability to manage stressful situations and remain composed in front of clients.
• Capability to perform necessary physical tasks, including the occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to drive a company vehicle on a daily basis.
• Proficient in using required safety equipment, including steel-toe shoes, hearing and noise protection, hardhat, eye protection, and hand protection.
• Ability to follow OSHA lock-out/tag-out and HAZCOM guidelines and other safety initiatives.
