This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.
• Assess and address coding edits within designated Epic work queues.
• Examine medical record documentation to assign CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 codes, and modifiers.
• Navigate through Epic EMR, reports, and work queues, which include Charge Review, Claim Edit, and Follow-up queues.
• Analyze coding bundling guidelines and the application of modifiers.
• Utilize knowledge of the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.
• Relay coding and denial trends, as well as opportunities for provider education, to coding leadership.
• Interact with providers via Epic in-basket messages and email.
• Deliver education and training to medical providers and coders.
• Conduct quality assurance audits within the specialty team.
• Ensure adherence to coding regulations and guidelines.
• Assist in the development of communications, tip sheets, and workflows.
• Oversee coding workflows and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Investigate and respond to coding requests specific to the specialty area.
• Advocate for Intermountain Health’s mission, vision, values, and service behavior standards.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• A minimum of five (5) years of professional fee coding experience is necessary.
• At least three (3) years of experience in the assigned specialty service line is required.
• CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist Physician) credential is mandatory.
• Related specialty coding credential is preferred.
• E/M (Evaluation & Management) coding experience is essential.
• Experience in coding for the assigned specialty-specific service line is required.
• Previous experience with Epic and work queues is preferred.
• Familiarity with CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding is necessary.
• Prior experience with Epic/PB Resolute is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
• Competence in Optum Encoder Pro is necessary.
• Capability to see and read information, labels, documents, and monitors.
• Ability to communicate verbally and comprehend spoken information.
• Manual dexterity for using a computer and managing complex supplies and equipment is required.
