• You will act as a reliable resource by offering education, guidance, and feedback to providers and physicians to enhance compliance, coding precision, and effective documentation practices.
• Your responsibilities will encompass auditing outpatient records, assigning the correct ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes, and extracting essential data for audit evaluation, tracking, reporting, and reimbursement.
• Conducts audits and reviews documentation to ensure compliance with coding regulations.
• Offers educational opportunities for coders, practice managers, and providers within Logan Health.
• Oversees all internal and external audits for Logan Health.
• Aids in the creation and execution of an internal audit program that delivers feedback and education to Logan Health providers.
• Performs ad hoc coding audits as needed.
• Conducts audits for providers and follows up with meetings and support as required.
• Alerts leadership of coding mistakes in accordance with department procedures.
• Ensures accurate coding for claims as assigned.
• A minimum of 5 years of coding and billing experience.
• Current CPC or CCS coding certification.
• Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) certification must be obtained within one (1) year of employment.
• Proficient understanding of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding guidelines and practices.
• Comprehensive knowledge of classification and nomenclature in anatomy.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Knowledge of health information management procedures and practices.
• Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, self-motivated, possess critical thinking abilities, and capable of prioritizing tasks while functioning both independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to working collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining confidentiality as required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
• Excellent interpersonal abilities to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
• Proficient in computer skills, including a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn additional software as necessary.
