This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Examine medical record documentation to pinpoint essential information for thorough diagnosis and procedure coding.
• Assign evaluation and management codes utilizing the appropriate CPT codes.
• Utilize suitable ICD coding for diagnosing.
• Collaborate with physicians to assess documentation, address coding discrepancies, and secure signatures for any unsigned service dates.
• Mark files for follow-up actions.
• Serve as the lead individual and provide assistance to coders and IBC staff regarding medical terminology and policy interpretation.
• Aid in raising physician awareness concerning documentation requirements.
• Compile case reports and commence follow-up on the billing process.
• Must possess one of the following coding credentials: AHIMA CCA, CCS, or CCS-P; AAPC CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CPC-H-A, or a specialty-specific coding credential from AAPC.
• Previous coding experience or equivalent experience comparable to an associate's degree in a related field is preferred.
• Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding is preferred.
• Proficiency in computer systems, ICD-10 Procedure Coding System, medical billing and coding, and medical terminology is preferred.
• A diploma, certification, or degree is not mandatory.
• No specific work experience is needed.
• A driver's license is not required.
