This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Oversee and enhance the Microsoft 365 platform, emphasizing security, compliance, and user experience.

• Provide dependable enterprise services that facilitate teaching, learning, and operational functions.

• Play a role in platform governance and architectural decision-making.

• Collaborate with IT and campus stakeholders to ensure services align with institutional goals.

• Administer and govern Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Power Automate, and Copilot.

• Manage messaging, collaboration, and compliance functionalities throughout the platform.

• Enforce security, retention, and governance policies.

• Resolve complex issues within cloud services.

• Assist with service lifecycle management and modernization projects.

• Aid in the administration and expansion of Microsoft Azure services.

• Help design scalable and secure solutions to address changing requirements.

• Engage in governance, identity management, and cost optimization initiatives.

• Support on-premises systems, such as VMware environments.

• Assist with backup and disaster recovery strategies.

• Contribute to the management of storage/SAN platforms.

• Facilitate modernization efforts that connect on-prem and cloud environments.

• Collaborate with IT Security, Networking, and academic departments to deliver integrated solutions.

• Provide technical guidance to support campus initiatives.

• Contribute to documentation and ongoing improvement initiatives.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technology-related field, with 3-5+ years of experience in application/system administration and the Microsoft 365 platform, or equivalent professional experience.

• Proven experience supporting Microsoft 365 services (messaging, collaboration, identity, and security) in an enterprise setting.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure.

• Hands-on knowledge of private infrastructure, including:

• VMware virtualization.

• Backup and recovery solutions.

• Storage/SAN platforms.

• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

• A collaborative attitude and dedication to supporting a diverse academic community.

• Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in higher education or similar mission-driven settings.

• Proficiency in PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, or automation methodologies.

• Relevant certifications (Microsoft 365, Azure, or infrastructure technologies).
