This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.
• Develop and enhance our multi-cloud strategy along with reference architectures across AWS, Azure, and GCP, focusing on AWS/Azure depth while ensuring GCP solutions are feasible and properly governed.
• Create and execute cloud foundations and landing zones, including accounts, subscriptions, projects, network architecture, identity integration, logging, policy guardrails, and shared services.
• Set cloud architecture standards that promote speed and uniformity, covering security baselines, network patterns, naming/tagging conventions, environment strategies, and reusable modules/templates.
• Propel infrastructure automation through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD methodologies: Develop and sustain reusable Terraform modules (or equivalents) to facilitate repeatable deployments for core cloud services and application teams.
• Collaborate with the Security team to incorporate controls by design, encompassing IAM strategy, key management, secrets management, encryption, vulnerability management, and cloud security posture practices.
• Design enterprise-grade cloud networking solutions that include connectivity, segmentation, routing, DNS, load balancing, and hybrid connectivity (e.g., VPN/Direct Connect/ExpressRoute equivalents).
• Enhance reliability and operational excellence by establishing monitoring and alerting patterns, SLOs/SLIs, integrating incident response, and developing backup/DR strategies and operational runbooks.
• Champion cost-aware architecture and FinOps practices, which include tagging standards, cost allocation, budget and forecasting inputs, and optimization recommendations (e.g., commitments/reservations, right-sizing, lifecycle policies).
• Assist and guide internal engineering teams on solution designs (containers/Kubernetes, serverless, data services, integration patterns), supporting teams in responsibly adopting cloud-native practices.
• Prepare our cloud platforms for AI readiness by defining guardrails for AI/ML service usage (data classification, access controls, audit, retention) and collaborating with teams exploring GenAI/ML to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and compliant.
• Keep abreast of cloud AI trends and convert them into practical platform recommendations.
• Mentor and elevate the team through technical leadership, design reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
• Over 5 years of experience in cloud/infrastructure engineering or architecture roles, demonstrating ownership of enterprise-scale environments.
• Advanced knowledge of AWS, Azure, and GCP, covering architecture, security, networking, and operations.
• Significant experience with cloud governance and foundational design, including multi-account/subscription/project strategies, IAM and identity federation patterns, and centralized logging/monitoring with policy guardrails.
• Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred; CloudFormation/ARM/Bicep are also beneficial).
• Experience in implementing CI/CD for infrastructure and platform services, including Git-based workflows, automated testing/validation, and release discipline.
• Solid understanding of cloud networking principles and designs, such as segmentation, routing, hybrid connectivity, DNS, and load balancing.
• Proven capability to produce and maintain clear architecture documentation, including diagrams, decision records, standards, and runbooks.
• Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex technical decisions, trade-offs, and risks in an understandable manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Familiarity with cloud AI/ML services and common patterns.
• Health insurance
• Remote work options
