
Clinical Research Patient Engagement Specialist – Psychiatry

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Advocate for the mission of Javara by prioritizing patient safety and well-being, while fostering a culture that upholds the highest standards of integrity and excellence for all those we serve.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, as well as adherence to Javara’s standard operating procedures and guidelines, while also aligning with all FDA, ICH/GCP Guidelines, and state and local laws.
• Supervise the consistent implementation of patient engagement technology systems, policies, and procedures.
• Perform telephone and in-person prescreening for potential participants in psychiatric and central nervous system (CNS) clinical trials, primarily focusing on Major Depressive Disorder (MDD).
• Develop trust and rapport with individuals facing depression and other mental health issues, maintaining a standard of empathy, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Evaluate eligibility based on protocol-specific inclusion and exclusion criteria and ensure accurate documentation of screening results.
• Recognize and appropriately escalate participant safety issues, such as suicidal thoughts or psychiatric decline, in accordance with site policies and study protocols.
• Work collaboratively with investigators, coordinators, therapists, and referral sources to support timely participant enrollment.
• Uphold a compassionate, patient-centered approach while achieving enrollment targets and adhering to study timelines.
• A Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, or a related healthcare field is preferred (or equivalent relevant experience).
• At least 2 years of professional experience directly engaging with adults diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder or other severe mental health conditions.
• Experience in one or more of the following environments: Outpatient behavioral health, Psychiatric practice, Community mental health, Inpatient psychiatry, Crisis services, or Clinical research involving psychiatric populations.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with patients experiencing depression, anxiety, or other psychiatric symptoms, demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
• Experience in conducting structured interviews, patient assessments, or clinical screenings.
• Strong documentation and organizational skills, showcasing exceptional attention to detail.
• Comfortable working towards recruitment and enrollment objectives in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to comply with and implement SOPs, GCP guidelines, and regulations related to clinical trials.
• Initiative, problem-solving capability, and the ability to work independently are essential.
• Dependable and accountable, with a strong commitment to the quality of work.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Proficiency in discussing sensitive topics with patients.
• Experience in a call center is a plus.
• Medical experience is an advantage.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is not required.
