This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conducts reviews of patient medical records to aid in compliance audits, organizational risk assessments, and continuous monitoring activities.
• Responsible for assessing and confirming that the provided documentation substantiates the delivery of medically necessary services.
• Aids in random and targeted pre-payment and post-payment audits by examining patient medical records.
• Completes medical record assessments promptly and efficiently.
• Assists in making every effort to gather relevant internal and external medical record documentation to validate the services rendered and billed.
• Supports the monitoring of received medical documentation, manages outbound requests, and ensures all requisite information is secured (when available).
• Adheres to pertinent policies and procedures and escalates issues as necessary.
• Contributes to the analysis of customer chart documentation trends for outreach training and educational opportunities related to medical reviews.
• Ensures all reasonable efforts are made to collect the necessary external medical record documentation to substantiate the services in question.
• Ensures the received medical record documentation is accurately recorded and assists in managing outbound documentation requests.
• Provides support to the Senior Clinical Specialist with additional responsibilities as needed.
• Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology and clinical documentation is essential.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary.
• Ability to effectively prioritize tasks, conduct research, troubleshoot, and resolve problems.
• Must possess the capability to manage multiple competing priorities.
• A collaborative team player who can prioritize tasks, thrive under pressure, adapt to changes readily, and excel in a productivity-driven environment.
• Ability to focus on highly detailed tasks despite frequent interruptions and to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Five or more years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
• Preference for candidates with experience in medical terminology and documentation review.
• Proficiency in healthcare billing systems and Microsoft Office is required.
• Experience with government and various third-party payers is essential.
