This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +9 more states.
• The Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist (CDIS) Lead is a senior-level role for experienced and skilled CDI Specialists who consistently meet or surpass all standards for advanced CDIS performance.
• The CDIS Lead offers support to CDI leadership across a specified range of facilities and the CDI team.
• This position acts as a liaison among senior leadership, medical personnel, nursing staff, coding experts, case management, and quality departments.
• Key Responsibilities: May involve special projects related to CDI processes, quality, data analysis, or HIM/CDI performance.
• Takes charge of daily workflow processes and adjustments for the CDI team.
• May present CDI performance metrics during facility meetings.
• May provide CDI education as necessary.
• Will take on operational oversight in the absence of the CDI Director.
• Supports the CDI team through a multidisciplinary approach aimed at achieving program goals.
• Facilitates collaborative initiatives between CDI, HIM, and Medical Staff providers.
• Promotes cooperation between CDI and clinical teams such as Quality and Case Management.
• Effectively applies leadership skills and critical thinking to identify opportunities for optimizing team processes and engagement.
• Keeps professional competency in documentation and coding practices by staying current with new coding guidelines, policies/procedures, and federal and state reimbursement.
• Must have strong organizational, communication, time management, and clinical foundation skills.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in EMR software, CDI applications (following education and orientation), and Microsoft applications.
• Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple tasks and work efficiently and effectively across various software platforms.
• Exhibits effective communication skills in a fast-paced environment with multidisciplinary teams that include physicians, nurses, coders, administration, and other healthcare professionals.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and exhibit self-awareness regarding when to seek assistance.
• Proven ability to consistently maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA compliance.
• Possesses the knowledge and capability to drive operational metrics.
• Engages in the education and onboarding of all new hires.
• Contributes to the daily operations of the CDI team.
• Collaborates with HIMD’s/Coding managers to enhance processes and performance.
