This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Accountable for enhancing the overall quality and thoroughness of clinical documentation.
• Ensure that the medical record information accurately reflects the patient's severity of illness, clinical requirements, and resource utilization.
• Examine death medical records to confirm that the severity of illness and risk of mortality are documented at the highest level.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to encapsulate clinical care in a coding format for reimbursement and to guarantee that UAMS maintains the correct case mix.
• Review all types of hospital admissions to ensure that severity is accurately documented, and subsequently educate healthcare providers on admission classifications.
• Registered Nurse (RN) with an active license and a minimum of 4 years of inpatient clinical experience in Emergency, Critical Care, or Medical/Surgical areas, including experience in Quality, Case Management, Clinical Audit, or Data Abstraction, OR a Coding professional with a CCS certification and 6 years of inpatient coding experience, supported by documented education in anatomy/physiology and pharmacology.
• CCDS certification is required within 6 months of employment.
