• Take ownership of the company's P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and treasury operations.
• Implement and oversee the monthly and quarterly financial closing process.
• Direct budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A efforts in collaboration with executive leadership.
• Manage relationships with external accounting firms, tax consultants, and auditors.
• Ensure compliance and reporting for lenders (both existing and future facilities).
• Prepare board-ready financial reports for the Founder and private equity sponsors.
• Recruit and oversee a Controller while developing the finance team.
• Conduct capital markets transactions to capitalize on the company’s mass tort receivable pipeline, including factoring, credit facilities, and structured financing.
• Spearhead the company’s transition from cash to accrual accounting (ASC 606). This major near-term initiative involves engaging with accounting firms, developing revenue recognition policies, restating 2–3 years of historical data, and conducting a full audit—estimated to take 8–12 months to complete. This is the most significant infrastructure project on the immediate horizon.
• Create lender-grade portfolio reporting and data infrastructure in collaboration with operations and technology teams.
• Develop and sustain the borrowing base methodology and underwriting framework for the receivable portfolio.
• Cultivate and manage relationships with institutional lenders, specialty finance counterparts, and structured finance legal counsel.
• Present proposed transactions to the Investment Committee for approval.
• Be responsible for the financial narrative directed at investors, including audited financials, capital markets documentation, and portfolio analytics.
• Over 10 years of progressive finance leadership experience, including roles as CFO or VP of Finance.
• Proven experience as a finance leader in a PE-backed firm, with knowledge of board reporting, investor communications, and sponsor expectations.
• Strong operational finance skills: monthly closes, FP&A, budgeting, cash management, and audit coordination.
• Demonstrated experience in leading or managing accrual accounting conversions from cash basis, including ASC 606 revenue recognition policy development, historical financial restatement, and collaboration with external audit firms. Candidates lacking direct experience in this type of conversion will face a significant disadvantage.
• Familiarity with structured finance, receivable monetization, asset-backed lending, or capital markets transactions. Direct deal origination experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Capability to build and lead a finance team, including hiring a Controller and potentially a capital markets analyst.
• Exceptional communication skills for board presentations, lender negotiations, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience in the legal industry or specialty finance is advantageous but not required.
