Business Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Conduct inventory assessments of TEA and external data systems to create a detailed, vendor-ready data map.

• Record data sources, ownership details, formats, dependencies, and data integration requirements.

• Evaluate data quality across various systems to pinpoint gaps, inconsistencies, duplications, and needs for standardization.

• Propose strategies for data cleansing and validation.

• Develop a scalable data integration strategy that enhances data accessibility, interoperability, usability, and long-term sustainability across TEA systems.

• Ensure the data integration strategy aligns with TEA's implementation of the Ed-Fi Data Standard.

• Act as the Business Analyst for OnePlan, responsible for gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and system requirements in the Modern Requirements format.

• Create documentation for process flows, skip logic, system interdependencies, and user interface prototypes.

• Transform business and system requirements into precise functional requirements for vendor design and development.

• Assist in broader IDS team initiatives, including LASO, GSA, OneSystem, and other projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in gathering business requirements, documenting functional requirements, and mapping business processes.

• At least 8 years of experience in data mapping, data analysis, data quality assessments, data governance, and data integration.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in documenting system integrations, APIs, ETL processes, and data flows.

• At least 3 years of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Visio (or equivalent), and the Microsoft Office Suite.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience with SQL and business intelligence tools such as Microsoft Power BI.

• At least 2 years of proficiency in requirements management and project tools, such as DevOps, Jira, and Modern Requirements.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience with the Ed-Fi Data Standard and data interoperability frameworks.

• A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or Data Analyst leading requirements gathering, business process analysis, and functional documentation for technology implementation projects.

• Experience in analyzing complex data environments, documenting data sources and integrations, and formulating strategies for data governance, data quality, and integration.

• Strong ability to convert business needs into clear functional requirements and work effectively with cross-functional business, technical, and vendor teams.

• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
