This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assess and label content related to biology and biotechnology in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
• Analyze technically intricate or unclear biological communications and make consistent risk assessments.
• Differentiate between legitimate scientific and research applications and those that may be harmful or dual-use.
• Utilize expertise in fields such as pathogen research, microbiology, molecular biology, cancer biology, synthetic biology, or related areas.
• Recognize ambiguous or difficult cases and thoroughly document the rationale behind decisions.
• Contribute to enhancing the consistency and quality of biological safety review procedures.
• Strong academic or professional foundation in biology, microbiology, virology, molecular biology, cancer biology, biotechnology, synthetic biology, or a similar discipline.
• Capability to comprehend technical biological research, terminology, methodologies, and experimental concepts.
• Excellent analytical judgment and keen attention to detail.
• Proficiency in consistently applying written policies to complex and ambiguous scientific situations.
• Interest or experience in biosecurity, biodefense, biosafety, biorisk, dual-use biotechnology, or biological threat evaluation.
• Strong written communication abilities.
• Availability to commit at least 25 hours per week for a duration of one month.
• Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States.
• A PhD is not a prerequisite.
• Relevant experience may encompass work in government, national security, or biodefense related to biological threats.
• Relevant experience may include biosecurity, biosafety, biorisk, or dual-use research.
• Relevant experience may involve research in pathogens, infectious diseases, microbiology, or virology.
• Relevant experience may pertain to cancer biology, molecular biology, genomics, or related biomedical research.
• Relevant experience may include academic or industry research in emerging biotechnology.
• Master's-level scientific training coupled with experience in government, biodefense, or biosecurity.
