
Backend Engineer II – Data Platform

• Design and implement clean, modular, and scalable backend services utilizing Java, Spring Boot, and contemporary microservice principles.
• Create efficient database schemas and develop optimized queries for RDS (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and optionally, NoSQL databases such as Elasticsearch, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
• Integrate Kafka or RabbitMQ to establish robust and loosely-coupled event-driven architectures.
• Architect and implement scalable, secure, and reliable data pipelines leveraging modern data platforms (e.g., Spark, Databricks, Airflow, Snowflake, etc.).
• Develop ETL/ELT processes to ingest data from a variety of structured and unstructured sources.
• Conduct Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) to reveal trends, validate data integrity, and generate insights that guide data product development and business strategies.
• Collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to create data models that facilitate high-quality analytics and real-time insights.
• Profile and optimize backend performance across databases, APIs, and infrastructure.
• Write clean, maintainable code with thorough unit and integration tests to ensure system reliability and stability.
• Excel in an agile, collaborative environment and take responsibility for end-to-end feature delivery.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 4+ years of practical experience in data engineering or backend software development positions.
• Strong proficiency in the Java and Spring Boot ecosystem.
• Solid grasp of Relational Databases (RDS, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Experience utilizing Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ to construct asynchronous, decoupled systems.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and at least one data pipeline orchestration tool (e.g., Apache Airflow, Luigi, Prefect).
• Extensive experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, GCP BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks).
• In-depth understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and distributed systems.
