This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico, +4 more states.
• Transform 3D models from Inventor, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, and various other formats into comprehensive 2D shop drawings utilizing AutoCAD.
• Create fabrication drawings for laser-cut sheet metal, press brake components, welded assemblies, cast iron and aluminum parts, powder-coated assemblies, and wood components.
• Assemble complete submittal packages that include title blocks, bills of materials, finish specifications, notes, dimensions, and revision clouds.
• Implement established drawing standards, which encompass layer conventions, annotation styles, tolerance callouts, and title blocks.
• Work with STEP/IGES exports, DXF files, PDF markups, and SolidWorks Pack and Go archives.
• Recognize and highlight fabrication issues such as bend-radius conflicts, material discrepancies, and tolerance stack-ups prior to the release of drawings.
• Ensure accurate file naming, drawing revisions, and version control are maintained.
• Engage asynchronously with the design team to clarify drawing uncertainties and address technical inquiries.
• Consistently produce accurate work within tight production timelines.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in producing fabrication drawings, shop drawings, or manufacturing drawings.
• Strong expertise in AutoCAD, especially concerning 2D detailing, dimensions, layers, title blocks, and viewports.
• Proficient in SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor for handling 3D source models.
• Capability to interpret 3D models and STEP/IGES/PDF files and convert them into precise 2D production drawings.
• Solid grasp of sheet metal fabrication, including bend allowances, K-factors, and flat patterns.
• Understanding of AWS weld symbols and detailing for weld joints.
• Familiarity with GD&T and tolerancing for fabricated metal components.
• Experience in preparing and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and drawing revisions.
• Keen attention to detail and the ability to spot potential manufacturability challenges.
• Proficient English communication skills.
• A reliable internet connection and a secure workstation that can handle confidential client files.
• Nice to have: Experience with Autodesk Inventor or Fusion 360.
• Nice to have: Familiarity with SolidWorks, particularly in relation to Pack and Go archives.
• Nice to have: Knowledge of Trumpf laser cutting or press brake operations.
• Nice to have: Experience in creating drawings for cast iron or aluminum components.
• Nice to have: Understanding of powder-coat and surface-finish callouts.
• Nice to have: Experience with architectural site furnishings, street furniture, or similar manufactured products.
• Nice to have: Experience in preparing submittal packages for construction or public-works projects.
