Audio Consultant Engineer – Linux Audio Stack

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Collaborate and contribute to the WirePlumber, PipeWire, and ALSA upstream communities.

• Design, integrate, and deliver embedded Linux audio systems that function reliably in real-world applications.

• Implement and troubleshoot PipeWire and WirePlumber stacks, encompassing ALSA, DSPs, and system-level interactions.

• Engage directly with customer teams to translate their requirements into robust audio architectures and solutions.

• Provide support in related areas such as Bluetooth audio and Linux audio tooling to efficiently diagnose and resolve issues.

• Articulate complex audio architecture decisions to product teams, offering honest evaluations and fostering trust through transparent communication.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience with the Linux audio stack (PipeWire, WirePlumber, ALSA).

• Strong command of C and systems-level programming.

• Solid grasp of fundamental audio concepts (latency, formats, synchronization, buffering, resampling).

• Demonstrated capability to debug intricate issues across various layers of a Linux system.

• Comfortable working directly with clients in a consulting or support role.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Experience with ALSA kernel driver development (Nice to Have).

• Familiarity with Rust (Nice to Have).

• Exposure to Bluetooth audio (A2DP, HFP, LE Audio) (Nice to Have).

• Basic understanding of DSP concepts (Nice to Have).

• Contributions to relevant open-source projects (Nice to Have).

• Experience with embedded or real-time Linux systems (Nice to Have).
