Assyrian Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Promptly attend interpreting sessions and perform interpretation in a courteous and professional manner.

• Accurately convey concepts and meanings in line with established interpretation protocols, without omissions or additions.

• Communicate clearly in both languages using correct pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.

• Uphold a professional demeanor throughout all interpreting sessions.

• Remain composed during interpreting sessions, especially if one of the primary speakers is confused or distressed, particularly in urgent situations such as 911 calls.

• Adhere to client instructions and protocol to meet client expectations for the Limited English-speaking Person (LEP), ensuring no interaction with the LEP occurs without the client’s consent.

• Show a strong commitment to cultural sensitivity and working effectively within a diverse environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in Assyrian and English, with an understanding of the related cultural dynamics.

• Capability to provide cultural competency and recognize regional and accent variations to enhance communication with the LEP.

• Outstanding listening, retention, and note-taking abilities to ensure a high degree of accuracy during interpretation.

• Capacity to focus, remain detached from the discussion, maintain neutrality and objectivity at all times, and handle calls that address sensitive topics such as end-of-life discussions, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and issues related to sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

• Educational background or work experience in language-related areas such as teaching, language assessment, translation, or interpretation is preferred.

• Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States.

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
