This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +1 more state.
• Foster a positive safety culture within designated operational facilities and construction projects.
• Develop, implement, and enhance regional HSSE programs, policies, standards, and procedures continuously.
• Collaborate with Operations, Construction, Engineering, and Development teams to recognize risks and incorporate HSSE best practices.
• Perform field inspections, audits, observations, and risk assessments.
• Oversee investigations into incidents, near-misses, and environmental events, including root cause analysis and corrective measures.
• Offer technical guidance and coaching to site personnel, project teams, and contractors.
• Assist in contractor qualification, onboarding, field oversight, and performance monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Evaluate HSSE performance metrics, identify trends, and suggest continuous improvement initiatives.
• Organize and deliver HSSE training, safety meetings, and awareness initiatives.
• Maintain HSSE records, compliance documentation, regulatory reports, and performance metrics.
• Engage in emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response activities.
• Travel frequently to operational facilities and construction sites within the assigned region.
• At least 5 years of progressive experience in HSSE.
• Background in supporting industrial operations, construction, utilities, renewable energy, or other high-risk environments.
• Experience in both operational facilities and construction projects.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and HSSE management systems.
• Proven experience in conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations, including root cause analysis.
• Capability to offer technical guidance and foster strong working relationships with employees, contractors, and cross-functional teams.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Capacity to work independently while managing multiple priorities across a geographically dispersed area.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HSSE management systems.
• Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time.
• Ability to operate in active construction and facility environments.
• Capability to wear required PPE and conduct field inspections in varying weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the assigned territory.
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, CHST, OHST, or equivalent are preferred.
