• Develop and implement a strategic account plan aimed at fostering growth within the architectural segment, in collaboration with and under the guidance of the Area Sales Manager.
• Identify significant opportunities to enhance specification growth and ensure accounts are optimized for sustainable success.
• Proactively seek out and engage with architects, consultants, and specifiers to guarantee that Benjamin Moore products are included in upcoming projects.
• Qualify and manage leads to secure specifications, particularly focusing on commercial projects.
• Act as the technical authority on Benjamin Moore's product offerings, keeping up-to-date with technological innovations, sustainability practices, and regulatory standards.
• Deliver presentations, continuing education courses, and meetings to inform architects and specifiers about the advantages of specifying Benjamin Moore products.
• Provide exceptional service by writing, reviewing, and ensuring the accuracy of paint specifications.
• Assist decision-makers in choosing the most effective and efficient products for each project.
• Utilize the Benjamin Moore Spec Writer tool to create specifications and educate clients on its self-service functionalities.
• Collaborate with architects, consultants, and project managers to ensure that design intent is accurately represented in technical documentation and aligns with project objectives.
• Support retailers in updating specifications through painters or contractors.
• Offer expert guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle, functioning as an extension of clients' teams.
• Monitor project opportunities and specifications, ensuring timely follow-up with clients and alignment between the Territory Representative and painters.
• Partner with Territory Representatives during the construction phase to verify accurate specifications, evaluate submittals, and address RFIs.
• Conduct job site visits alongside Territory Representatives to assess project requirements and ensure the proper application of specifications.
• Analyze market reports and stay updated on industry trends, competitive analysis, and market changes to leverage new opportunities.
• Collaborate with the A&D Marketing Manager to utilize marketing tools and resources for creating custom materials as necessary.
• Optimize time spent on both desk and field activities, prioritizing specification writing and client engagement to enhance market share.
• Provide direct feedback on pertinent and/or critical issues to the A&D HQ team.
• Submit precise reports and documentation into the CRM system on a weekly basis.
• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience.
• Over 5 years of experience working directly with architectural and design communities.
• Ability to convey the Benjamin Moore brand value proposition effectively to the A&D communities.
• Strong project management skills and a comprehensive understanding of the project lifecycle.
• Proven experience in writing and self-sourcing specifications and finish schedules while overseeing the project lifecycle through to installation.
• Proficiency in relevant software applications, including Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
• Familiarity with specification tools and platforms used by architecture professionals.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, listening, and public speaking abilities.
• Strong motivational skills with the ability to inspire and guide others.
• Proven time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Effective decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent team collaboration skills for working effectively with colleagues and clients.
• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are essential.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
• Must be available for occasional domestic overnight travel to attend meetings, conferences, and trade shows.
• Must reside in the specified geographic area or be willing to relocate.
