This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.
• Create top-notch keyframe and/or motion capture animations for characters, creatures, vehicles, and gameplay systems.
• Develop expressive and believable movements that enhance gameplay responsiveness and support narrative objectives.
• Produce refined animation cycles, including locomotion, combat, traversal, facial animation, cinematic performances, and interactive sequences.
• Ensure consistency in animation style, quality, and performance throughout the project.
• Implement and fine-tune animations within game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
• Diagnose and resolve animation-related issues concerning rigging, blending, state machines, and gameplay integration.
• Collaborate closely with design, engineering, cinematic, audio, and art teams to fulfill gameplay and storytelling goals.
• Engage in creative reviews, sprint planning, and milestone deliverables.
• Offer ideas to enhance animation pipelines, workflows, and overall player experience.
• Work alongside technical artists and programmers to guarantee animations comply with engine and performance standards.
• Optimize animation assets for runtime performance and memory limitations.
• Assist with motion capture sessions, including cleanup, retargeting, and implementation.
• Maintain organized source files and documentation in line with studio standards.
• Stay updated with the latest animation techniques, tools, and industry trends.
• Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Game Art, Fine Arts, Multimedia, or relevant industry experience.
• Experience in shipping at least one AAA, AA, or commercially released game title.
• Advanced knowledge of animation principles, including timing, weight, posing, spacing, and body mechanics.
• A strong portfolio or demo reel showcasing high-quality gameplay and cinematic animation work.
• High proficiency in industry-standard software such as Autodesk Maya, MotionBuilder, Blender, or similar tools.
• Experience in implementing animations in Unreal Engine, Unity, or proprietary engines.
• Understanding of rigging constraints, animation systems, and technical pipelines.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and feedback skills.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational capabilities.
• Proficient in Japanese with a strong command of English language skills.
