Android Software Engineer, Quality Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Develop AI-Driven Tools: Transition from conventional automation by integrating AI-powered agents that enhance our CI/CD pipelines and offer insightful feedback to developers.

• Improve Developer Efficiency: Detect and eliminate systemic hurdles in the development process, enabling teams to accelerate their workflow without sacrificing quality.

• Promote Quality by Design: Collaborate closely with product teams to steer architectural choices, guaranteeing that new features are both modular and testable from the outset.

• Deliver Large-Scale Infrastructure: Oversee the creation and upkeep of frameworks utilized by hundreds of engineers across Airbnb, ensuring they are efficient, dependable, and user-friendly.

• Engage in Hands-on Development: Produce high-quality, efficient Kotlin code to enhance testing frameworks and develop AI-enhanced developer tools, using LLMs to streamline development processes.

• Assume Technical Ownership: Take charge of critical components of our Automated Quality Platform, ensuring operational excellence and 24x7 high availability of our testing infrastructure.

• Design & Review Participation: Engage in in-depth design reviews for new Android features, offering expert advice on modularity and patterns for testability.

• Implement Applied AI: Deploy LLM-based solutions for intelligent test orchestration, test case generation, and autonomous test discovery to minimize CI feedback intervals.

• Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside Product and Mobile Infrastructure teams to ensure platform capabilities are aligned with the broader engineering organization’s needs.

• Provide Mentorship: Review code and offer technical insights to colleagues, nurturing a culture committed to craftsmanship and engineering excellence.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of professional Android development experience (or a PhD) in a dynamic, high-growth tech environment.

• Strong expertise in Kotlin and the Android SDK.

• Proven experience in building or sustaining test automation frameworks (e.g., Espresso, Compose Test) at scale.

• Familiarity with CI/CD orchestration and a passion for developing tools that enhance the developer experience.

• A keen interest or practical experience in utilizing AI/LLMs to address engineering productivity or quality challenges.

• Demonstrated ability to navigate complex, ambiguous codebases and deliver top-tier solutions.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to facilitate technical discussions among cross-functional teams.
