Android Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the technical design and architecture of Android applications, ensuring they are scalable, maintainable, and perform optimally.

• Serve as a technical resource and mentor, providing support and guidance to engineers across various teams.

• Create high-quality features utilizing Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and contemporary design principles.

• Make architectural choices that prioritize scalability, testability, and performance.

• Collaborate with backend teams while working with REST and GraphQL APIs.

• Write clean, modular, and testable code adhering to SOLID principles and employing dependency injection.

• Maintain and increase automated test coverage (unit, UI).

• Design with security at the forefront: ensuring safe data handling, encryption, secure storage, and robust networking.

• Ensure comprehensive observability by incorporating metrics, logging, tracing, analytics, and performance instrumentation.

• Enhance performance using Android Studio Profiler and associated tools.

• Contribute to GitHub workflows, CI/CD automation, and trunk-based development practices.

• Leverage AI tools to improve testing, documentation, refactoring, and overall developer efficiency.

• Work collaboratively with multiple mobile and backend teams within a large and complex engineering environment.

• Mentor colleagues and promote engineering excellence across teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in Android engineering.

• Proficient in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and modern architectural patterns (MVVM, MVI).

• Strong grasp of SOLID principles, dependency injection, and the ability to write testable, maintainable code.

• Experience with unit testing, test frameworks, and maintaining or expanding code coverage.

• Familiarity with integrating REST and GraphQL services.

• Background in working on large, complex Android applications with multiple native engineering teams.

• Experience with modularized Android architectures within large-scale applications.

• Expertise in designing robust data layers, including caching strategies, offline support, and synchronization.

• Knowledge of implementing progressive rollouts, remote configuration, and feature flags.

• Experience in designing for security, observability, and performance.

• Proficiency with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and trunk-based workflows.

• Experience using AI-augmented engineering tools to enhance development speed and quality.

• Desirable: Experience with event-driven or real-time architectures.

• Exposure to backend or full-stack development, or the ability to influence API contracts.

• Experience with design systems, shared component libraries, analytics, and experimentation.
