This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Assists the Director of AML/CFT in managing the Bank's compliance program.

• Conducts transaction monitoring, investigations, and quality control assessments to ensure adherence to BSA, USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC, and CIP regulations.

• Maintains a thorough understanding of current AML/CFT and OFAC regulations, in addition to all relevant federal and state laws and bank policies.

• Reviews daily cash reports to identify and file necessary Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) within the specified timeframes.

• Keeps records and documentation for CTR exempt customers.

• Monitors daily alerts from AML/CFT software for trends and any potential unusual or suspicious activities.

• Investigates daily alerts and referrals to detect and report suspicious activities on cases ranging from simple to moderately complex.

• Prepares and files Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) as needed based on alerts and referrals.

• Maintains supporting documentation for all SARs and potential SARs.

• Conducts timely periodic reviews and analyses of high-risk customers.

• Performs callbacks for all new deposit accounts to ensure compliance with CIP/CDD/ADD and risk score requirements.

• Ensures that all supporting documentation for legal entity customers is scanned and stored in the core system.

• Generates monthly reports for the Director of AML/CFT that cover key areas such as high-risk customer reviews, CIP/CDD/EDD callback errors, SARs and PSARs filed, and CTRs submitted.

• Provides insights to the Director of AML/CFT regarding potential control weaknesses, staff training requirements, policy or procedure improvements, and ongoing system errors.

• Oversees record retention.

• Aids in the implementation of training programs concerning AML/CFT policies, procedures, and compliance.

• Contributes to the creation of bank forms, notices, and procedures to ensure compliance with AML/CFT regulations.

• Assists in the development and updating of the AML/CFT Risk Assessment, policies, and procedures.

• Supports the management of the AML/CFT software monitoring system.

• Aids in the preparation and coordination of independent audits and regulatory examinations.

• Offers guidance and research support to bank staff on inquiries related to AML/CFT.

• Oversees and tracks the high-risk analysis of AML/CFT staff to ensure prompt filings and thorough analytical reviews.

• Manages and monitors 314(a) and 314(b) requests.

• Manages and monitors OFAC screenings to identify potential matches.

• Provides cross-training to AML/CFT and junior staff on software and AML/CFT procedures.

• Keeps abreast of regulatory updates associated with AML/CFT, including those from FinCEN, OFAC, FDIC, and other regulatory bodies.

• Prepares and disseminates Compliance bulletins and information regarding AML/CFT updates and changes.

• Exemplifies the TRAC Values and Critical Behaviors (Teamwork, Relationship, Authenticity, Commitment) as fundamental principles, using them to guide daily interactions and decision-making.

• Completes administrative tasks promptly, including required Bank Compliance Training.

• Responds to internal and external inquiries via email, phone, or messaging platforms in a prompt and professional manner.

• Represents the Bank positively through ethical conduct and community engagement.

• Demonstrates understanding and commitment to EEO policies.

• Performs duties in an office or home office environment, involving tasks such as writing, typing, speaking, lifting moderate weights, and operating office equipment.

• The role involves physical activities such as sitting, walking, and reaching. Reasonable accommodations can be arranged for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

• Travels up to 10%, including but not limited to attending company meetings, training sessions, and corporate events, with travel typically being regional or local based on business needs.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Finance, or related) preferred.

• ACAMS or a similar certification is required.

• A minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in a financial institution within risk management, compliance, or AML is required.

• Experience with AML monitoring and risk assessment in merchant services and/or payment channels is preferred.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; capable of interpreting complex data and providing valuable insights.

• Familiarity with CSI and Verafin is preferred.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) is required.

• Intermediate knowledge of AML/CFT monitoring software.

• Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to apply common sense in carrying out instructions, interpreting documents, understanding procedures, writing reports and correspondence, and communicating clearly with customers, vendors, and employees.

• Strong organizational and time management skills with a keen attention to detail.

• Proficient teamwork and relationship skills to contribute to cross-functional collaboration and team success.

• Willingness to take on special projects and perform additional duties as assigned, beyond core responsibilities, to support team and organizational needs.

• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development to remain current with industry standards and best practices.

• Ability to maintain authenticity and integrity in all professional interactions, ensuring trust and credibility with stakeholders.

• Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Proven ability to adapt to shifting priorities and procedures.

• A current driver’s license and a vehicle with adequate insurance coverage is required if driving while performing duties.
