This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• The AI Product Builder — Payments will play a key role in defining and developing the next generation of payment functionalities at Nymbus, which includes support for various payment rails, networks, message standards, settlement models, and integration patterns.
• You will take charge of transforming intricate payment-domain challenges into functional, production-quality software.
• Your responsibilities will include designing system behaviors, creating implementation-ready specifications, shaping APIs and data models, prototyping solutions, and actively participating in the implementation using AI-assisted development workflows.
• A thorough understanding of the flow of money is essential—not just at the feature or requirements level, but also at the system, message, transaction, settlement, and operational levels.
• You recognize that the complexities of payments arise from issues such as timeouts, duplicate messages, reversals, returns, cutoffs, partial failures, unavailable endpoints, liquidity constraints, and ambiguous transaction states.
• You will not merely manage a backlog and relay requirements to an engineering team; rather, you will be the primary architect of products and the payments-domain builder within the squad.
• A minimum of seven years of experience in building, designing, operating, or leading complex payment systems within fintech, banking, financial services, payment networks, or payment technology.
• Proven experience with payment switches, gateways, orchestration platforms, payment engines, processors, core-payment services, or similar intricate transaction-processing systems.
• In-depth knowledge of payment lifecycles, including initiation, authorization, clearing, settlement, posting, reconciliation, returns, reversals, rejects, and exception handling.
• Significant experience with several of the following: ISO 8583, ISO 20022, ACH, wires, RTP, FedNow, payment APIs, card-network processing, settlement, and liquidity management.
• The ability to articulate not only how a payment rail operates, but also how its rules and behaviors should be represented in software.
• Experience in deploying payment functionalities into production and providing support under real operational conditions.
• A strong understanding of the correctness, control, security, auditability, and resilience requirements associated with regulated financial systems.
• Annual cash bonus and equity options aligned with role level and experience
• 100% remote work environment
• 401(k) plan
• Health, dental, and vision insurance
• Paid time off
