AI Operations Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Assume operational responsibility for the configuration, reliability, and standards of Storyteller’s AI tools and platforms.

• Assist the AI Operations team in responding to changes in AI tools, platforms, models, or foundational capabilities.

• Establish, uphold, and enhance operational standards regarding the configuration, access, usage, and monitoring of AI tools.

• Enhance transparency concerning AI tool configuration, platform utilization, access management, permissions, dependencies, and operational performance.

• Identify weak, unstable, or high-friction areas within our AI tooling setup and contribute to the development of practical, sustainable solutions.

• Collaborate with internal teams to assess the effectiveness of AI tooling, identify areas of friction, and determine necessary improvements.

• Provide leadership with clearer insights into the performance of the AI tooling stack, areas of fragility, and necessary platform or workflow adjustments.

• Ensure that Storyteller’s AI tools remain effective, controlled, reliable, and aligned with actual business operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in managing or enhancing technical platforms, particularly AI tools, automation platforms, LLM-based tools, or AI-enabled workflows.

• Strong sense of ownership and accountability for operational results.

• Excellent technical judgment, especially concerning AI tools, platform configuration, workflows, permissions, integrations, APIs, and dependencies.

• Ability to make decisions in dynamic and uncertain environments.

• Capacity to prioritize trade-offs within a technical tooling stack and take decisive action.

• Demonstrated success in driving operational improvements through to completion, beyond merely identifying or suggesting them.

• Clear and direct communication skills with confidence in maintaining standards.

• Genuine interest in AI tools and a keen sense of the rapid changes within the AI tooling landscape.

• Sound judgment regarding when to act independently, when to seek input, and how to bridge user needs with platform realities.

• Energy, discipline, and commitment to operate swiftly without overlooking important details.
