This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Dakota.

📋 Description

• Conduct plot maintenance and preparation, which includes site preparation for planting, upkeep, spraying, and harvesting of research plots.

• Organize training sessions and grower field days.

• It is essential to groom plots and plan protocol execution to align with these events.

• Perform crop scouting and advising by walking through research plots to assess weed management, pest infestations, and disease occurrences, collaborating with Agronomists or Technical Seed Managers for solutions and planning operations to address crop production challenges.

• Assist in training and guiding summer interns to achieve operational objectives.

• The Research Specialist is responsible for developing workflows, creating task lists, and training summer interns on the skills required to complete tasks efficiently and with high quality.

• Support the research manager in planning and organizing various activities, which include sourcing research sites, drafting contracts, site layout design, creating entry lists, database configuration, equipment preparation, and planning for fertilizers and crop protection, operational strategies, and data management.

• Collaborate with the Land O’Lakes safety team to ensure compliance with DOT and safety regulations, which involves tracking fuel receipts, RAIR compliance, and maintaining proper logbook procedures.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred; however, relevant experience may be accepted in place of a degree.

• Up to 2 years of experience in small plot or agricultural retail, or previous internship experience in this field.

• Must possess or be willing to obtain a Class A CDL and Pesticide Applicators License within the first 60 days of employment.

• Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.

• A valid driver’s license that meets company policy is required to operate company vehicles.

• Previous experience with farm or research equipment is strongly preferred.
