This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Instruct and facilitate impactful learning aligned with the course outcomes in the curriculum while actively supporting all aspects of the learning environment.
• Deliver education through learner-centered instruction to empower graduates to meet the evolving demands of the marketplace.
• Foster a culture of learning that emphasizes mutual responsibility and respect, lifelong learning, diversity, ethics, and both personal and professional growth.
• Ensure that the South University philosophy—committing to quality service for students, employee development, engagement, and recognition, as well as cultivating an environment conducive to innovation and positive thinking—is upheld in all duties and responsibilities associated with this position.
• Engage in activities that enhance the reputation of the academic programs, departments, and colleges while adhering to the directives established by the South University Board of Trustees and administration.
• Oversee the educational process to guarantee that every student experiences a positive educational journey through effective learning, teaching, and social interactions.
• Execute faculty responsibilities as detailed in the faculty job description and in line with the provisions outlined in the Faculty Supplement to the South University Employee Handbook.
• Provide course instruction that is consistent with the South University curriculum model and supports the South University delivery style.
• Create and implement class instruction through the development of instructional plans that meet course objectives, design activities that align with lesson goals, and for online courses, deliver instruction as sanctioned within each course shell.
• Facilitate the achievement of predetermined outcomes for student success and learning assessment by offering instruction that promotes proficiency and establishes criteria for student performance and evaluation.
• Deliver learner-centered instruction by crafting a classroom atmosphere that encourages learning and student engagement, along with thorough planning and preparation for classes and student accomplishment.
• Promote student success by demonstrating adaptability in teaching style and schedule, showing enthusiasm for teaching and students, and actively involving students in the learning experience.
• Manage the learning environment by maintaining accurate records, submitting grades and reports punctually, and enforcing academic and attendance policies in accordance with the institution's standards.
• Connect professional, life, and industry experiences to learning by continuing professional/technical skills development, integrating industry perspectives into courses, and maintaining awareness of professional and industry trends and opportunities.
• Participate in faculty development initiatives to enhance knowledge, skills, and competencies in learner-centered instruction.
• Maintain consistent and effective communication with supervisors, faculty members, and other South University administrators.
• Contribute to a learning culture by engaging in curriculum and system task forces, supporting local campus events such as orientation and graduation, and participating in various workshops and meetings.
• A terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution in the relevant discipline is required for graduate programs, along with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).
• A master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the relevant discipline is required for undergraduate programs, with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).
• Experience in instruction or formal education processes, preferably within a post-secondary or college institution.
• At least six months of teaching experience at South University or another post-secondary education institution is preferred.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to cultivate successful relationships with student populations.
• Strong conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent time management and attention to detail.
• Proficient computer skills (i.e., software, analytical, and report writing capabilities).
• Familiarity with computerized learning management systems, including proficiency in standard office applications on personal computers.
• Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
• Proven teaching skills as demonstrated by prior teaching evaluations.
• Membership in a professional association relevant to the area of instruction is preferred.
• Possession of active, valid, and unencumbered state licensure or certification as applicable to the discipline.
• Willingness to work in an accelerated learning format, engaging with students online five out of seven days each online week.
