Accounting Expert – AI Research Intake

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Complete a professional intake that lasts approximately 30 minutes in writing.

• Outline current or recent responsibilities in accounting along with daily workflows.

• Clarify how time is allocated among core activities.

• Recognize critical processes and decision-making points.

• Provide practical examples of accounting work performed in a professional capacity.

• Map out specializations in areas such as audit, tax, financial reporting, corporate accounting, advisory, and related functions.

• Describe the systems, tools, documents, and data utilized in accounting workflows.

• Explain how accountants approach problem-solving, validate information, and draw conclusions.

• Identify processes for review, escalation, approval, and documentation.

• Highlight workflow details that are not easily discernible from public or textbook sources.

• Contribute insights to shape future research projects focused on AI in accounting.

• Assist in identifying realistic task categories related to audit reasoning, reporting, tax, and GAAP/IFRS work.

• Facilitate the alignment between accounting professionals and specialized workstreams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently practising or recently practised accountant.

• Professional experience in public accounting, audit, tax, corporate accounting, financial reporting, finance, or advisory roles.

• Strong comprehension of real-world accounting workflows and professional decision-making processes.

• Preference for candidates with a CPA, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.

• Consideration for experienced professionals without formal accounting credentials, provided they demonstrate significant domain expertise.

• Ability to articulate technical workflows and professional judgement in clear, written English.

• Comfortable providing detailed and specific explanations regarding the mechanics of accounting work.

• Work must be conducted without utilizing confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, institution, or other third party.

• H1-B and STEM OPT support is not available for the applicable engagements.
