This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the main point of contact for students from enrollment through to program completion.
• Oversee a cohort of students by providing coaching, encouragement, mentoring, removing obstacles, resolving issues, crafting completion strategies, and monitoring progress.
• Create academic plans that align with program requirements as well as students' educational and career aspirations.
• Utilize advising tools, systems, software applications, program analytics, and outreach protocols to enhance student engagement.
• Deliver personalized outreach and solutions during key milestones and in response to student behaviors.
• Assist students in navigating program and plan modifications, ensuring educational and financial plans are aligned with degree completion.
• Offer resources and direct students to university support services.
• Actively reach out to at-risk students to address barriers that may hinder persistence, success, and completion.
• Guide students through challenging life events and disruptions.
• Communicate via phone, voicemail, chat, email, casework, and social media.
• Accurately document student interactions in accordance with departmental best practices.
• Collaborate with faculty, department chairs, academic leaders, and university teams to resolve escalated student issues and conflicts.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on programs, processes, and policies.
• Track and report on trends that impact student persistence, success, and completion.
• Provide training on programs, processes, and policies for faculty and staff.
• Identify gaps in programs, processes, and policies, and engage in developing solutions.
• Establish professional relationships across the organization and participate in projects, initiatives, and cross-functional training.
• Investigate issues and trends in other higher education institutions.
• Preferred two to four years of professional experience utilizing advanced coaching, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with adult learners and/or faculty is preferred.
• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required.
• A Master's degree is preferred.
• A Doctoral degree is preferred for Doctoral Advisors.
• A foundational understanding of advising from both educational and career perspectives.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate through various channels and systems.
• Capacity to quickly learn new computer software applications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to comprehend key metrics and utilize self-service reporting tools for data monitoring and sharing.
• Capability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
• Effectiveness in working with diverse populations.
• Skills in conflict management and handling challenging student interactions.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, work independently and collaboratively, and meet deadlines.
• Flexibility in work hours and schedule to meet student needs is essential.
• Must be able to spend considerable time working on a computer and using a headset on the phone.
• Willingness to travel 0–10% of the time.
• Ability to lift 20 lbs.
• Availability to work over 40 hours per week during peak periods or as business demands require.
