Video Editor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Edit 3–5+ short-form videos weekly from longer footage, ensuring quick turnaround times (occasionally same day).

• Create compelling cold opens, trims, and pacing specifically designed for TikTok, Reels, and Shorts.

• Incorporate precise, on-brand captions and enhance with motion graphics, callouts, emojis, and sound effects as needed.

• Mix and refine audio (including dialogue cleanup, and balancing music/SFX) and perform basic color correction/matching.

• Adapt content for 9:16, 1:1, and 16:9 formats, and export platform-ready files with the appropriate codecs and loudness levels.

• Organize assets: maintain clean project files, label exports, create thumbnail pulls, and compile simple metadata (working title/tags).

• Ensure project organization in Dropbox/Drive according to our file naming and folder structures.

• Collaborate effectively with producers and social strategists, take detailed notes, and promptly address revisions.

• Participate in regular Zoom/Slack check-ins for feedback and project planning.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in editing short-form content for TikTok, Reels, Shorts, or a similar background showcased in your portfolio.

• Demonstrated ability to create engaging hook-first storytelling for vertical video, explaining what captures attention.

• Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro as your main non-linear editor (NLE).

• Strong grasp of audio fundamentals: denoising, EQ, compression, and loudness levels for spoken word in vertical videos.

• Comfortable with designing and styling subtitles specifically for vertical formats.

• Awareness of current platform standards and trends (including cuts, pacing, memes, sounds, and transitions) without following every trend blindly.

• Excellent communication skills, time management, and dependability in a remote setting.

• A portfolio or reel showcasing vertical edits (please provide links; TikTok, Reels, or Shorts links are preferred).
