Vice President, Identity Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of and articulate the strategic roadmap for the Identity & Data Layer, encompassing the entire lifecycle (ingest → resolve → enrich → activate), with clear ownership of scalability, accuracy, latency, and reliability service level agreements (SLAs).

• Lead and motivate a team of approximately 50 engineers.

• Oversee the advancement of identity resolution and identity graph systems, enhancing deterministic and probabilistic matching, cross-channel identity, and real-time enrichment as key competitive advantages.

• Propel the evolution of identity services.

• Work collaboratively across various functions, including AI, marketing, and product teams, to ensure the smooth integration of identity services throughout Zeta’s platform.

• Position the data layer as the contextual engine for Zeta’s AI-native platform, facilitating real-time features, embeddings, and data accessibility for models, agents, and downstream applications.

• Evaluate against industry leaders and innovate proactively in the realm of identity solutions.

• Maintain adherence to privacy and data governance regulations (e.g., CCPA, GDPR).

• Recruit, mentor, and nurture top talent while establishing a robust succession plan for essential roles.

• Collaborate with executive leadership on strategy, investment, and prioritization, ensuring alignment between platform evolution, business outcomes, and long-term scalability.

• Partner with DevEx and AI Enablement teams to encourage the adoption of AI-native engineering practices throughout the data layer, enhancing developer productivity, code quality, and the velocity of system evolution.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of engineering leadership experience, with considerable time spent overseeing large-scale identity or data platforms.

• Profound domain knowledge in identity resolution, identity graphs, and data enrichment—ideally gained from a leading competitor or related industry.

• Comprehensive understanding of the applicability, advantages, disadvantages, and effectiveness of data engineering design patterns and concepts such as Data Lakehouse, Data Table Format, Zero-Copy Data Sharing, Cleanroom, Real-Time vs Batch Data Processing, and high-throughput distributed system APIs.

• Familiarity with data technologies analogous to:

• Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery

• Iceberg, Hudi, Delta

• EMR, Airflow, Spark

• Aerospike, Scylla, DynamoDB

• Proven ability to manage organizations of 50+ individuals, including directors and senior engineering managers.

• Strong grasp of data governance, privacy, and compliance, including international standards such as GDPR and CCPA.

• Demonstrated history of innovation and achieving measurable results, particularly in AI-driven or data-driven product capabilities.

• Outstanding communication skills.
