This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Design map-focused product experiences, including layers, timelines, annotations, overlays, and spatial filters that analysts can navigate efficiently and confidently.
• Define user workflows for geospatial analysis by linking map views with both structured and unstructured data exploration.
• Develop wireframes, interaction flows, and high-fidelity prototypes to inform engineering and product decisions.
• Create and maintain design systems and UI components for analytical and spatial interfaces.
• Conduct user research and usability testing with analysts and operators, using insights gained to enhance the product.
• Collaborate closely with engineers to ensure designs are effective with large datasets and technically intricate tools.
• Approach design for connected, offline, and air-gapped environments from the outset, rather than as an afterthought.
• A minimum of 5 years experience designing complex B2B software products, with a portfolio showcasing end-to-end contributions from research and workflows to polished interfaces.
• Demonstrated experience in designing data visualization or map-based products, with an understanding of the unique challenges associated with spatial interaction at the product level.
• Strong capabilities in interaction design and information architecture, especially for analytical and data-rich interfaces.
• Proficient in Figma and comfortable working with design systems and component libraries.
• A collaborative spirit: you work seamlessly with engineers, analysts, and product managers, effectively bridging those roles.
• Nice-to-haves:
• Experience with map-based or location intelligence products (mobility, GIS, logistics, or geospatial analytics).
• Familiarity with spatial interaction patterns, including layers, zoom-based exploration, map annotations, and geospatial filtering.
• Experience in designing for mission-critical or regulated environments where reliability and auditability influence design choices.
• Exposure to geospatial or GIS domains such as mapping platforms, satellite data, or location intelligence systems.
• Proficiency in German (B1+) and/or experience conducting pilot evaluations with public-sector users.
• Background in regulated or mission-critical settings.
• Remote-first setup in Germany with a hybrid office in Berlin, 30 days of vacation, and a budget for equipment and learning.
• High level of ownership and comprehensive scope: prototypes covering ingestion, processing, ML enrichment, search, and user interface.
• Engaging, mission-driven work that supports essential customers across both public and private sectors.
