This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• Prepare and review precise federal, state, and local tax filings.
• Prepare individual Form 1040 returns along with associated schedules.
• Handle business tax returns, including Forms 1065, 1120, and 1120-S, as necessary.
• Aid in the preparation of fiduciary, nonprofit, estate, gift, payroll, and sales tax returns.
• Input tax information from supporting documents such as Forms W-2, 1099, K-1, and 1098.
• Calculate taxable income, deductions, credits, estimated payments, and tax obligations.
• Prepare extensions, estimated payment vouchers, amended returns, forms, schedules, statements, and disclosures.
• Organize client tax documents, financial statements, trial balances, and supporting schedules.
• Develop tax workpapers, book-to-tax reconciliations, and tax adjustment schedules.
• Reconcile tax documents with accounting records and previous year returns.
• Maintain orderly electronic files and complete supporting documentation.
• Safeguard confidential taxpayer and financial data.
• Import, input, and verify trial balance data in tax software.
• Map general ledger accounts to tax return classifications.
• Assist with depreciation, amortization, fixed assets, cost basis, K-1, and allocation schedules.
• Monitor return statuses, deadlines, outstanding information, workload, and productivity standards.
• Collaborate with U.S. tax seniors, managers, partners, bookkeepers, accountants, and client teams.
• Communicate inquiries, status updates, open items, delays, and review comments.
• Correct any rejected electronic submissions for retransmission.
• Escalate intricate or uncertain tax issues.
• Execute additional tax preparation and accounting tasks based on client requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in preparing U.S. federal and state tax returns.
• Experience in preparing Form 1040 individual income tax returns.
• Familiarity with Forms 1065, 1120, and 1120-S is advantageous.
• Comprehension of basic U.S. federal income tax principles.
• Knowledge of Forms W-2, 1099, K-1, and 1098.
• Experience in preparing tax workpapers and reconciling supporting documents.
• Familiarity with tax return extensions, estimated payments, and electronic filing processes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and cloud-based document management tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Capability to meet strict filing deadlines.
• Willingness to work hours consistent with the assigned U.S. client.
• Openness to support extended schedules during peak tax seasons.
• Reliable internet connection and a professional remote work setup.
• Preferred possession of a Philippine Certified Public Accountant license.
• Enrolled Agent credential or ongoing pursuit of obtaining the credential.
• Formal training in U.S. federal or state taxation.
• Experience with U.S. public accounting or tax preparation firms.
• Experience in preparing partnership, S corporation, and C corporation returns.
• Familiarity with multistate tax filings.
• Knowledge of QuickBooks Online or similar cloud-based accounting software.
