Telugu Localization Expert – Science

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Reviewing and refining KA Science Telugu content, as well as creating and localizing new materials (videos & text) as required, while adhering to quality metrics (Contextualization, cohesion, rigor, clarity, pedagogical approach, etc.).

• Gathering on-ground feedback on content by engaging with state teachers and integrating their insights into the materials.

• Overseeing a team of 5-6 localization specialists.

• Examining Telugu Science textbooks to identify necessary modifications prior to localization.

• Analyzing original materials, assessing them, and rewriting them in the target language as needed, ensuring the original meaning is preserved.

• Utilizing State Board and NCERT Books alongside specialist dictionaries, thesauruses, and reference materials to find the most accurate equivalents for terminology and vocabulary.

• Conducting research on relevant phraseology to ensure precise translations.

• Proofreading and editing final translated versions based on fundamental quality parameters (Meaning, Readability, Compliance, Terminology, Consistency, and Linguistics).

• Maintaining and enhancing knowledge in specialized translation areas.

• Adopting Khan Academy’s Style Guide for the Telugu language.

• Creating and continually updating a glossary of specific terminologies for Khan Academy’s localization process.

⛳️ Requirements

• Passionate about Science and comfortable discussing the subject up to the class XII level.

• Fluent in Telugu, both spoken and written.

• Native speaker of Telugu.

• Capable of managing a team of 5-6 individuals.

• Possesses a keen eye for detail and conducts quality audits of localized content.

• Has studied and/or taught in a Telugu medium school.

• Experienced in online teaching, video creation, or localization.

• Tech-savvy and curious about technology.

• Proficient in understanding English to effectively recreate videos.

• Familiar with various Computer Assisted Translation (CAT) Tools and video editing software.
