Technical Support Engineer, Java

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Dominican Republic.

📋 Description

• Identify and resolve code-level issues as highlighted by support analysts, accounting for around 80% of the position's responsibilities.

• Execute minor enhancements and functional upgrades, which represent approximately 20% of the role.

• Play a key role in the development and advancement of HICX’s enterprise SaaS supplier-management solution.

• Collaborate within the technical support team without directly managing support tickets.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 2 years of professional experience in Java programming, with a focus on application design, software development, and maintenance.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

• Proficiency in the English language.

• Excellent communication abilities.

• Strong team player who can effectively share information and assist colleagues.

• Comprehensive understanding of engineering best practices.

• Solid knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming methodologies.

• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Groovy.

• Proficient in SQL and database management systems including PostgreSQL and MySQL.

• Understanding of web standards (HTML, JavaScript, etc.).

• Quick to learn and adapt to new frameworks and technologies.

• Keen attention to detail and creativity in enhancing processes and fulfilling business needs.

• Practical experience with automated testing methodologies (Unit, Integration & Acceptance).

• Hands-on experience with REST APIs and microservices.

• Desirable: Familiarity with CI/CD, cloud service technologies, DevOps practices, Git, Maven, Eclipse, Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate, distributed systems architecture, Agile methodologies, Docker, Kubernetes, J2EE technologies, Vue.js or React, and BPMN frameworks such as Activity.
