Tableau Data Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the enterprise data governance framework within Tableau Cloud, encompassing data source certification workflows, Tableau Catalog configuration (including lineage tracking, data quality warnings, and sensitivity labels), metric governance through Tableau Pulse, and the enforcement of naming conventions, access controls, and content promotion policies.

• Implement and oversee row-level security, object-level security, and Virtual Connection-level entitlements to centralize and enforce data access controls.

• Utilize the Platform Data API to create automated audit trails, activity monitoring pipelines, and compliance dashboards for continuous governance observability.

• Collaborate with the Business Intelligence team to ensure a single source of truth for KPIs and metrics throughout the organization.

• Lead the design and governance of the semantic data model to facilitate Tableau Next AI features, including Tableau Pulse and Einstein Copilot.

• Manage Tableau Pulse metric definitions by defining, certifying, and deprecating official metrics organization-wide.

• Direct governance and quality standards for AI-generated content to guarantee that outputs conform to the organization's trusted data standards.

• Develop optimized semantic layers and certified data sources for Tableau dashboards and analytics.

• Implement best practices for star schema design, level of detail (LOD) calculations, and data blending.

• Diagnose and fine-tune underperforming dashboards using Tableau Performance Recorder, database query analysis, and Admin Insights dashboards for comprehensive site-wide performance monitoring.

• Collaborate with other departments to integrate Tableau Cloud with upstream systems such as Salesforce and Redshift.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in business intelligence, data architecture, or analytics engineering, with at least 3 years dedicated to Tableau.

• Expert-level knowledge of Tableau Cloud, covering site administration, performance tuning, governance, and LOD expressions.

• Extensive experience with Tableau data governance, including Tableau Catalog, certified data sources, Virtual Connections, and both row-level and object-level security.

• Proficient in using the Tableau REST API for governance automation workflows and the Tableau Metadata API (GraphQL) for lineage and catalog queries.

• Advanced SQL skills, preferably with Amazon Redshift.

• Strong comprehension of data modeling, star/snowflake schemas, and semantic layer design.

• Experience in integrating Tableau with large-scale data ecosystems (ETL pipelines, APIs, or cloud data storage).

• Understanding of data governance, metadata management, and security principles.

• Familiarity with the Platform Data API for activity monitoring and audit log ingestion.

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Exceptional communication skills, with a proactive approach to updating progress, timelines, challenges, and proposed solutions.
