Staff Software Engineer – Databases SRE

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sweden.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with product engineering teams in an embedded model.

• Take ownership of production reliability for high-SLA and intricate customer environments.

• Design and deploy automation to enhance reliability practices.

• Define and refine per-tenant SLOs and reliability frameworks.

• Proactively minimize SLO burn to avert recurring incidents.

• Act as the primary escalation point and on-call resource for incidents.

• Lead incident responses that impact customers and conduct post-incident reviews.

• Contribute to design documentation and code evaluations.

• Influence feature designs for scalability and operational efficiency.

• Create automation to eliminate repetitive tasks.

• Enhance alert quality and decrease unnecessary escalations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of engineering experience, with 4+ years in SRE/CRE/production engineering.

• Proficient in Kubernetes within AWS, GCP, or Azure environments.

• Familiar with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Helm, Terraform, Jsonnet, etc.

• Significant experience in technical leadership roles.

• Proven track record of leading teams through projects.

• Experience mentoring fellow engineers on the team.

• Background in operating multi-tenant systems in a production setting.

• Extensive experience in designing and implementing SLOs.

• Proficient in at least one programming language (e.g., Go, Python, Java, etc.).

• Strong understanding of Linux operating system internals.

• Some knowledge of networking, cloud storage, and scalability.

• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.

• Experience in participating in blame-free Incident Response with composure and active involvement.

• Ability to analyze performance, scaling, and failure modes.

• Comfortable working collaboratively within an engineering team.

• Capable of forming deep partnerships with product engineering teams.

• Intellectually curious, transparent, action-oriented, and kind.
