This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee the architecture and advancement of extensive distributed backend systems, spearheading technical initiatives across teams from design to production.
• Develop high-performance, fault-tolerant backend services that support real-time AI agents, conversation intelligence, and enterprise integrations.
• Collaborate with ML engineers to operationalize AI capabilities by constructing the runtime infrastructure and orchestration systems that enable scalable AI agents.
• Design and enhance data storage and retrieval systems for real-time analytics and insights.
• Propel ongoing improvements in system performance, cost efficiency, and scalability to accommodate high-volume production workloads.
• Mentor senior engineers, shape the technical roadmap, and elevate engineering quality standards across teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Over 8 years of experience in building scalable backend systems within production settings.
• Demonstrated experience in leading the architecture of large-scale distributed systems, with a deep understanding of consistency, fault tolerance, state management, and concurrency.
• Strong proficiency in at least one major programming language (Python, Go, Java, C++, or similar).
• Expertise in API design (REST, gRPC) and service-oriented architectures.
• Experience in database design and optimization across both SQL and NoSQL systems.
• Practical experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) along with strong security knowledge.
• Experience in developing developer-facing tools (CLIs, SDKs, testing frameworks).
• In-depth knowledge of system reliability, observability, monitoring, and production ownership (including on-call responsibilities).
• Excellent communication skills for technical decision-making, cross-functional collaboration, and mentorship.
• High standards for code quality, testing, and engineering best practices.
