This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.

📋 Description

• Establish the long-term technical vision and architecture for backend systems that drive experimentation, personalization, analytics, and conversion optimization across Webflow.

• Design and enhance high-throughput distributed systems and APIs that efficiently ingest, process, and deliver large volumes of visitor and event data, ensuring low latency, high availability, and robust consistency guarantees where necessary.

• Lead foundational platform investments and the data infrastructure that supports them, unlocking new product capabilities for the foreseeable future.

• Collaborate closely with data scientists, ML engineers, and product engineers to implement statistical and AI/ML capabilities into dependable, real-time backend infrastructure.

• Oversee complex, multi-team, multi-quarter technical initiatives from inception to completion: including problem identification, technical strategy, implementation, launch, and long-term operational stewardship.

• Shape the engineering roadmap and technical strategy across the Convert pillar and associated pillars, pinpointing high-impact investments and aligning teams to support them.

• Elevate the engineering standards across the organization through architecture reviews, technical standards, observability and operational excellence practices, and the systems and tools that uphold long-term quality.

• Guide and develop staff and senior engineers, amplifying your impact through the talent you nurture and the technical culture you cultivate.

• Stay informed about industry trends in distributed systems, experimentation platforms, real-time data, and AI/ML infrastructure, proactively seeking opportunities to enhance Webflow's backend platform and engineering methodologies.

• Convert product vision into specific technical challenges and execution strategies.


⛳️ Requirements

• BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.

• Possess 8+ years of software engineering experience, including hands-on expertise in building and maintaining scalable backend and distributed systems.

• Have a solid technical foundation in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, or Go, and be proficient in modern frameworks, distributed systems patterns, and system design.

• Have designed, developed, and managed high-throughput, data-intensive distributed systems in production, with a comprehensive understanding of scalability, fault tolerance, consistency trade-offs, observability, and performance optimization.

• Exhibit technical leadership on complex projects, influencing architecture and execution both within and outside of your immediate team.

• Collaborate effectively with product, design, data science, and ML stakeholders to translate business requirements and customer outcomes into scalable technical solutions.

• Demonstrate sound judgment, communicate effectively with technical audiences, and make practical trade-offs in dynamic environments.

• Show a proactive engagement with AI, actively building and applying knowledge in emerging technologies to enhance our work processes and achieve faster results.

• Nice to have: Experience with experimentation platforms (A/B testing, feature flagging, multi-armed bandits), personalization or recommendation systems, marketing analytics, or customer data platforms.

• Familiarity with the statistical principles of online experimentation (variance reduction, sequential testing, CUPED, etc.) and the infrastructure necessary to support them at scale.

• Experience with Node.js and TypeScript in large production systems is advantageous but not required.
