Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• We are seeking a seasoned Staff Software Engineer to elevate our software architecture.

• You will take technical ownership of both frontend and backend systems, design scalable microservices, establish API standards, and ensure the highest quality within our engineering team.

• In this position, you will lead technically and strategically without formal management responsibilities and actively assist in the growth of other engineers.

• Develop, implement, and scale microservices on a Kubernetes cluster.

• Engage in full-stack development using TypeScript/React, Go, and Python.

• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) and manage containerization (Docker).

• Define and implement API standards, such as gRPC or FastAPI.

• Ensure clean code, effective testing strategies, and a well-structured repository.

• Mentor team members and provide technical support.

• Play a crucial role in enhancing team performance.

• Offer advice on architectural decisions, performance optimization, and scalability.

• Contribute to the technical roadmap and strategic development of the platform.

• Advocate for best practices in software engineering, including code reviews and quality assurance.

• Proactively identify and address complex technical challenges.

• Collaborate across teams to ensure system integrity and consistency.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software development.

• An M.Sc. or PhD in Computer Science or a related qualification.

• Proficient in German, both spoken and written, along with good English skills.

• Experience with microservices, distributed systems, testing, and software engineering principles, particularly clean code, testing (unit, integration, E2E), code reviews, and repository structure.

• Strong knowledge of frontend and backend technologies, containerization, CI/CD, and API design.

• Experience in the scalable processing of large datasets.

• Hands-on experience with gRPC, REST, FastAPI, Docker, and GitHub Actions.

• Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a team-oriented mindset.

• Experience in providing technical leadership without a direct management role.

• Capability to communicate complex technical issues clearly and implement sustainable solutions.
