This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Serve as the main security partner for the Walrus team, offering architectural guidance and integrating security practices throughout the development process, starting from the design phase.
• Lead security evaluations for new features in Walrus and contribute to security initiatives throughout the Mysten ecosystem.
• Identify systemic vulnerabilities and provide actionable remediation strategies for complex architectural challenges.
• Foster a culture of security-by-design within both Walrus and the broader Mysten organization.
• Utilize AI-driven tools and advanced automation to detect and resolve easily identifiable security issues.
• Offer strategic oversight on infrastructure and product security matters that impact Walrus and the wider organization.
• Work closely with engineering leadership to prioritize security roadmap initiatives and balance feature velocity with the security posture of the platform.
• Mentor both senior and junior engineers, establish technical direction for security standards, and implement best practices in engineering.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Over 8 years of industry experience in security engineering.
• Proven experience operating at the Staff (E6) level or equivalent.
• Extensive generalist experience in security across infrastructure, application, and cryptographic security.
• Strong skills in building, deploying, and managing automated security tools.
• Demonstrated application of AI/ML or advanced static/dynamic analysis to enhance security outcomes at scale.
• In-depth expertise in collaborating with engineering teams during the design phase to identify and address high-risk design flaws.
• Excellent communication abilities and the capacity to influence technical direction and lead cross-functional security initiatives.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
• A technical understanding of decentralized storage, distributed systems, or the Web3 stack is preferred, but not mandatory.
• Experience in leading security-focused transformations or implementing security-by-design frameworks is preferred.
• Ability to navigate between tactical hands-on security tasks and strategic planning and leadership is preferred.
