This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Formulate and lead the strategy for developer tools within Temporal's platform—not only delivering features but also making decisive recommendations on how developers should test, debug, and deploy resilient applications.
• Take complete ownership of the testing narrative from start to finish: make strategic decisions regarding test infrastructure direction, establish standard patterns, and work towards creating tests that developers can genuinely rely on.
• Manage the safety of deployments: identify the optimal method for pre-deployment compatibility checks and drive the process from concept to a fully realized product.
• Integrate the CLI into a single cohesive tool—suitable for both humans and AI agents—while defining its evolution as AI-assisted development progresses.
• Streamline the onboarding experience so that new developers can achieve a functional project within minutes using production-realistic patterns.
• Influence decisions that span across SDKs—the tools under your purview will function across Go, Java, TypeScript, Python, and .NET. You will promote consistency without hindering SDK teams.
• Establish the handoff between developers and operators—defining the transition from "I’m shipping" to "it’s being operated."
• Collaborate closely with engineering leadership to define team priorities and technical directions.
• Advocate for the developer tooling perspective during product-staff evaluations and company-wide planning sessions.
• A minimum of 8 years of product management experience, particularly in developer tools, SDKs, CLIs, or developer infrastructure.
• Proven experience in defining and leading a tooling strategy, rather than merely executing one—you have made assertive decisions on how developers should operate and have successfully implemented them.
• Experience in making build-vs-buy or keep-vs-deprecate decisions regarding developer-facing infrastructure, with the ability to articulate the trade-offs years later.
• Ability to maintain a clear vision across multiple tools that are released on varying timelines and cater to different language ecosystems.
• Comfortable navigating uncertainty—many of the significant challenges in this role lack straightforward answers at present.
• Strong written communication skills, quick decision-making abilities, and a willingness to adapt your views based on evidence.
• Experience collaborating with engineering leadership, not just engineering teams—you influence technical direction rather than solely focusing on product requirements.
• A clear understanding of the distinction between developer tooling and production operations, and the ability to set that boundary effectively.
• Unlimited PTO, 12 Holidays + 2 Floating Holidays.
• Full coverage of premiums for Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance.
• AD&D, Long-Term & Short-Term Disability, and Life Insurance (Standard & Supplemental options available).
• Empower 401K Plan.
• Additional perks for Learning & Development, Lifestyle Spending, In-Home Office Setup, Professional Memberships, Work From Home Meals, Internet Stipend, and more!
