Staff Machine Learning Engineer – Visual Suite Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Identify and drive initiatives that maximize the value of ML/AI throughout the user journeys in Productivity.

• Develop tools to enhance existing Productivity features, enabling LLMs and agents to interact effectively.

• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to define the AI strategy for Productivity.

• Establish technical patterns and standards for the application and deployment of ML/AI within the team.

• Resolve organization-wide technical challenges that cannot be addressed by a single team alone.

• Mentor engineers and elevate the quality of applied ML engineering within the group.

• Balance speed and rigor by delivering AI features that perform reliably at Canva's scale.

• Convert changes in user requirements and the product roadmap into ML/AI priorities.

• Proven hands-on experience in applying ML/AI to solve real product challenges in a production environment.

• Comfortable taking ownership of technical direction without needing extensive guidance.

• Method-agnostic: equally proficient in building a well-tuned classical model or exploring the latest techniques.

• Ability to work collaboratively across teams, influencing roadmaps while also contributing code.

• Pragmatic approach: prefer to deliver something functional and iterate rather than pursue a flawless model.
