Staff Engineer – Data Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Create and implement data pipelines that efficiently process large volumes of payment data, ensuring they are not only fast but also reliable and accurate.

• Manage the complete data lifecycle: from data ingestion and transformation to delivering the outputs that Finance, Product, and clients rely on.

• Enhance data quality within your area by utilizing appropriate tools.

• Collaborate across departments with Product and Finance, and support other Engineering teams through a consulting approach.

• Influence team practices, including code review culture, CI/CD standards, ADRs, and incident management — these practices are in development, and senior engineers play a critical role in shaping them.

• Assist in onboarding and mentoring fellow engineers; there are significant opportunities to make a positive impact in this area.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated initiative, technical expertise, and the capability to lead projects and deliver results.

• Experience in establishing and refining data engineering standards, architectural guidelines, and governance, preferably in a regulated setting.

• Proficient in Python and SQL.

• Practical experience with Spark or Flink in a production environment.

• Familiarity with DBT for data transformation.

• Knowledge of StarRocks or a similar analytical database.

• Experience in constructing and managing data pipelines on AWS and/or GCP.

• Proficient with data quality tools and possess a mindset that prioritizes correctness.

• Understanding of medallion/lakehouse architecture patterns.

• Fluent in both verbal and written English — effective written communication is essential in our distributed team.
